ABOUT THE ROLE

The Coordinator, Events and Properties is responsible for working with the Event Manager to deliver all aspects of Events hosted in Canada including game operations, team servicing, team travel, meals and accommodations and overall Event execution.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE OVERALL MISSION OF HOCKEY CANADA

  • Working under the direction of the Event Manager communicating and fulfilling host community requirements including marketing, signage, venue operations, volunteer recruitment, service providers, team services and other key requirements
  • Event Coordination duties at National and International Events and Championships and support servicing of National Team Camps and Events
  • Communicate with volunteer network and Members
  • Play a key role in the Events and Properties department achieving the department and corporate goals and objectives
  • Lead and support other events and activities
  • Supporting, servicing and fulfilling of Marketing Partners and Official Suppliers accounts leading up to events and during events

Events

  • Regular communication on required items with Host Committees
  • Production, distribution and management of all required signage and promotional materials at all events
  • Ensure efficient ticket distribution to sponsors and other VIP’s in consultation with the Manager, Ticket Sales
  • Work with the host committee and the teams to plan travel, meals and accommodations
  • Work with the Event Manager and respective Board representatives to ensure that the Rules and Regulations and Technical Package are up to date for the event and circulated to the teams and officials
  • On-site assistance with event management
  • Assist in organization of game operations materials (scripts, promotions, etc.)
  • Assist in all aspects of coordinating all Team Services requirements with Host and participants
  • Work with the host committee to support key volunteer groups including transportation, pageantry, tickets, special events, officials, and other key volunteer teams
  • Ensure that all sponsor assets – signage, in game announcements, promotions are taken care of and completed
  • Work with staff representing Hockey Canada including Media, Web, Development, Photography, Video and Events
  • Coordinate the return of all key event elements to the Hockey Canada office including Banners, signage, flags, remaining contra etc
  • Work with host committee and event manager to assist in the development of a final report
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

EXPERIENCE YOU’LL NEED

  • Experience in planning and executing events with a preference for sport specific experience
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Communications, Public Relations or related field
  • An understanding of Hockey Canada operations, initiatives and structure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; promotes cooperation and commitment within a team to achieve goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated communication skills; ability to use a broad range of communication techniques to effectively communicate to varying audiences in a variety of situations
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to balance conflicting priorities in order to manage workflow, ensure the completion of essential projects and meet deadlines
  • High level of integrity; earns others’ trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency in Microsoft Programs, Outlook and ability to quickly adapt to new technology and easily acquire new technical skills
