The Oakville Blades of the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League (OPJHL) have advance to the 2008 RBC Cup after winning the 2008 Dudley Hewitt Cup, over the host Newmarket Hurricanes. The Blades jumped out to a quick lead in the final game and never looked back. Oakville brought a complete effort, and could not be beaten all week, and will now represent Central Canada at the 2008 RBC Cup in Cornwall, ON from May 2 - 11. Tournament MVP Nick McParland scored two more goals for Oakville, bringing his tournament total to 10 goals and 1 assist to lead all scorers. McParland's zero penalties also earned him the Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Tournament. Oakville leaves Newmarket with a lot of hardware, also capturing the OHF championship.

Dustin Alcock came ready to play, as he scored two first period goals to give Oakville an early lead. KJ Ramolla responded for the Hurricanes to bring the lead down to just one and bring some hope back to the fans at the Ray Twinney Complex. Scott Judson was able to regain Oakville's two goal lead, with his late first period marker.

Oakville began the second period where they left off, getting early goals from Braden Birch and Nick McParland. The Hurricanes would not go away without a fight. Team captain Scott Voisin scored to bring some life back to his club, and Josh Diamond's marker gave the fans visions of an unforgettable comeback.

In the end it was not to be, as the Blades shut down the Hurricanes in the final period, and McParland slid his 10th goal of the Dudley Hewitt Cup into and empty net, to cement Oakville's place as the best Jr. A hockey team in Ontario this season. The Blades will now head to Cornwall, Ontario, where they will look to cap off an already unbelievable season.
