Quotes:
“I thought we played very well in the second half of today’s game. You can really see our group coming together despite not having a lot of time to play or practice as a team. It is always difficult to come together and be able to play as well as you know you are capable of in the first game, but we are starting to see a lot of progress, and we are happy with our performance and the win.”
General manager and assistant coach Shane Doan (Halkirk, Alta./Arizona, NHL) on the team’s first win

“We played with a lot of grit today, and played a good, Canadian-style game that we can be proud of. It was nice to be able to get the win, but now we need to shift our focus to tomorrow’s game against Finland. We know we are going up against a strong opponent, but we want to end the tournament with our best game and hopefully we can finish with another win.”
Ryan Spooner (Ottawa/Avtomobilist Yekaterinberg, KHL) on the win and playing against Finland
