Thomas Chabot to captain Canada’s National Men’s Team at 2022 IIHF World Championship

Thomas Chabot will captain Team Canada at worlds, joined by alternates Anderson, Dubois, Lowry and Severson.

HELSINKI, Finland – Hockey Canada has announced that Thomas Chabot (Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce, Que./Ottawa, NHL) will wear the ‘C’ for Canada’s National Men’s Team at the 2022 IIHF World Championship in Tampere and Helsinki, Finland.

Josh Anderson (Burlington, Ont./Montréal, NHL), Pierre-Luc Dubois (Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Que./Winnipeg, NHL), Adam Lowry (Calgary, Alta./Winnipeg, NHL) and Damon Severson (Melville, Sask./New Jersey, NHL) will serve alongside Chabot as alternate captains.

“It is always special to be able to wear the Maple Leaf, and it is a true honour to be named captain for the world championship,” Chabot said. “Josh, Pierre-Luc, Adam and Damon are great leaders and players, and I look forward to serving on the leadership group with them. Our entire team is excited to play for Canada, and we will represent the country with pride as we look to defend last year’s gold medal.”

Canada’s National Men’s Team announced its 24-player roster on May 9, and will kick off the 2022 IIHF World Championship on May 13 against Germany at 1:20 p.m. ET/10:20 a.m. PT. It will also take on Italy, Slovakia, Kazakhstan, Switzerland, Denmark and France in the preliminary round before the tournament concludes with the medal games on May 29.
