CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada announced Thursday that Canada’s National Sledge Team will hold a training camp at the BMO Centre in Bedford, N.S., from Oct. 21-26. Twenty-two players have been invited and will take part in the camp.
The roster announced for camp includes 17 players who won gold at the 2013 IPC Sledge Hockey World Championship in Goyang, South Korea last April.
The players will be on the ice a total of 10 times in six days in Bedford, with on-ice sessions open to the public.
“We’ve had a strong start to the season, with a good camp in Toronto and a solid performance at the Four Nations Tournament in Sochi,” said Mike Mondin, head coach of Canada’s National Sledge Team. “We look forward to getting back on the ice in Bedford and continuing our preparation for the Paralympics.”
During the 2013-14 season, Canada’s National Sledge Team will compete in the 2013 World Sledge Hockey Challenge, Dec. 1-7 in Toronto, Ont., a three-game series against the United States in Charlotte, N.C., in January and the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, March 7-15.
