National Para Hockey Team welcomes U.S. to Elmira

Team Canada will continue its season when it welcomes its rivals to Elmira for a two-game series.

CALGARY, Alta. – Canada’s National Para Hockey Team will welcome the United States to Elmira, Ont., for a two-game series at the Woolwich Memorial Centre, Feb. 13-15. The series will mark the first time the teams have met since the gold medal game at the 2019 Canadian Tire Para Hockey Cup in early December.

The Canadians will gather for a training camp ahead of the series, where athletes will be participating in a series of on- and off-ice sessions, development meetings and team-building initiatives.. With athletes from across the country, the series is an important part of the quadrennial training program, which is set out in preparation for the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing, China.

The schedule includes six on-ice practices, which will be open to the public, along with the two games – Feb. 13 at 11:30 a.m. ET and Feb. 15 at 6:30 p.m. ET.

“In a year where we don’t have a world championship to focus on, it’s important for us to face high-calibre competition as much as we can,” said head coach Ken Babey (Calgary, Alta.). “This series is an important part of developing our athletes and providing them competitive challenges as we continue to build our capacity. Our group has shown amazing growth through this season, and I’m excited to get back on the ice to see what we can do against the U.S.”
