Team Canada coming to Montreal for quarter-final at 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship

Canada’s quarter-final at the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship will played Jan. 2 in Montreal.

6-17 NaMONTREAL, Que. & TORONTO, Ont. – Canada's National Junior Team will be playing in the late quarter-final at the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship, at the Bell Centre in Montreal on Jan. 2.

With two wins under its belt, Team Canada will close its preliminary-round action at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto by facing Latvia on Dec. 29 and the United States on Dec. 31, before crossing over to Montreal to begin the medal round with the 8 p.m. ET quarter-final at the Bell Centre.

“The fan support for Team Canada has been outstanding, with a capacity crowd for the opener against Russia, and a sellout for the New Year’s Eve game against the U.S.,” said Denis Hainault, executive director of the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship. “Great seats are available for fans wanting to support our national team on Thursday, and when it arrives in Montreal for the quarter-final.”

U.S., Sweden notch wins on Wednesday

In preliminary-round action on Wednesday, Sweden took the Swiss team by a score of 4-2 at the Bell Centre, while the United States toppled Slovakia 5-2 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
