Jessica Wong’s goal with less than eight minutes to go forced overtime, but Canada settled for women’s under-18 silver for the second year in a row, falling again to the Americans in the gold medal game.

Melodie Daoust had a hat trick and added an assist as Canada advanced to the gold medal game for the second time in as many years with a 6-1 win over a pesky Swedish side in Friday’s semifinal.

Marie-Philip Poulin had two goals and two assists while Saige Pacholok and Jessica Wong finishing with four assists apiece as Canada wrapped up first place in Group B with a 13-0 blanking of the Czechs.

Marie-Philip Poulin scored one goal and set up two others as Canada moved to 2-0 in Group B action with a shutout win. Cassie Seguin made 11 saves to blank the Finns in her tournament debut.

Casandra Langan scored four goals and Jamie Lee Rattray had three of her own as Canada opened the world championship with a romp over Switzerland. Canada outshot the Swiss 80-7 in the victory.

Captain Brianne Jenner finished with two goals and three assists as Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team scored its second exhibition win in as many nights, topping York University 9-0. Roxanne Douville made 20 saves for the shutout.

EXHIBITION | MON. DEC. 29

Marie-Philip Poulin and Laurie Kingsbury scored a pair of goals apiece as Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team opened exhibition play with a 10-0 victory over the University of Toronto. Nine players had multiple points in the win.
